Eagle Eye vs the competition

by Holger Kamin

Thanks David for sending us this great report. Always nice to see that we outperform the competition.

When we were talking at camp perry you asked for feed back on the eagle eye 223 ammo I bought.
I just spent six hours at the range shooting on the three hundred yard range.
My rifle is a custom tuned Remington 700 with a Douglas medium weight barrel and a McMillan stock.
I was shooting off a bench with modified cross sticks in the front and a bag in the rear.
Target used is the MR 63 repair center.
After sighting the rifle with Hornady ammo I never moved the sights.
Temp was between 75 degrees and 85 degrees.
I was shooting to the north with no wind.
I compared three different types of ammo Hornady, Norma USA, and Eagle-Eye.
The attachments show the targets.

The notes in the photos show the bullet weight extreme spread and over all length extreme spread in twenty rounds:

Eagle Eye weight 1.1 gr difference
Norma USA weight 1.4 gr difference
Hornady weight 3 gr difference

To me I believe the weight of the components of a bullet needs to be the same. All the primers need to weigh the same. The powder needs to weigh the same. The bullet needs to weigh the same. And the case needs to weigh the same. Example: if the bullet is light or heavy there will be a pressure change inside the case that will send the bullet either high or low, the point is the group size will increase.
